Investigation of the apoptotic effects of mesenchymal stem cells on KG-1 leukemic cell line

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are undifferentiated with the ability of multi-potency, pluripotency, and self-renewal. MSCs show great promise in cancer therapy due to their unique features. MSC secrete various cytokines multifunctional properties, although roles unclear. Methods: We have investigated influence secreted from on KG-1 as a cell model acute myeloid leukemia (AML). For this purpose, following culture characterization MSCs, trans-well system was used for co-culturing KG-1. To determine apoptosis induction Ki/Caspase-3 assay conducted cultured alone co-culture (10:1) day 7. In step, protein isolated both groups (control experimental) western blotting done investigating BAX BCL-2 proteins expression. Results: It found that significantly enhanced caspase-3 activity (P<0.05). Besides, A significant increase expression detected, while displayed dramatic reduction (P<0.01). Conclusion: As concluding remark, contributory role is mediated by Caspase-3, BAX, BCL2
